About
I created my first website in 1999. Our son Connor would soon be born, and we wanted to our family to see pictures as he grew. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion, and Straight Street Design is the result. I've been able to turn my passion into a profession, and I'm grateful to have worked with some amazing clients. I specialize in working with small businesses, churches, and non-profits. I also consult on 'best practices' for the web as well as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media.
As both a businessman and a former pastor, I'm pleased to be able to serve. I consider myself 'part of the team' when I'm working on a website...your goals become my own. When I can help you help others, my work is truly fulfilling.
Why "Straight Street Design"?
I named my business as I did for a reason...and I'm glad you asked. It comes from the Bible, specifically from Acts 9:11. Here are the basics of the story: a first-century Christian named Ananias was given instructions in a vision from God: he was to go to Straight Street in Damascus and ask for Saul. When he found Saul, Ananias was to heal his blindness.
So far, so good. Ananias, however, wasn't so sure. You see, Saul was well-known for trying to murder Christians. Ananias didn't know that Saul had had a vision in which he was confronted by Jesus...and that God was preparing Saul to become Paul the apostle. Despite his misgivings, Ananias obeyed God, and Saul's sight was restored. Saul (now Paul) became the primary force behind the spread of the gospel from Israel to Rome and beyond.
I chose the name "Straight Street Design" in honor of God's work in the life of Saul. If God could impact the entire world by changing the heart of a single first-century man, just think of what He might be able to do through YOU!

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a website cost?
Simple websites may be $500 or less. More complex websites come with more complex prices. I'm self-employed, so my costs are low. Quality work is worth the price, but my prices are usually lower than average.
What if I don't like your portfolio?
Each site is a unique creation for an individual client. Your website should reflect your goals, values, and audience. We can work together on a design you'll like.
Can you customize a blog for me?
You bet. They're a lot of fun, too!
What if I don't like my new website?
My work is unconditionally guaranteed. If you're not happy, I'll point you to designers who might make you happier.
Can you help with social media, like Facebook and Twitter?
Absolutely! If you need more buzz, I can help you get it.
I'm not a Christian. Should I call someone else?
Nah. Many of my clients share my beliefs, but not all. Web design is a 'referral' business, so happy clients tell their friends. That means that many of my Christian clients refer their Christian friends...but I'm pretty sure you and I can work together. I don't bite. =)
Consulting
You need a web expert. Let's sit down and talk about your organization's goals. Your first consultation is absolutely free, so you can't go wrong. You don't have to know which questions to ask. I'm not just a web guy...I'm a business owner, too. Drop me a line and we'll get together in person or over the phone.
Graphic Design
Your organization is unique, so your website should be unique. My portfolio is full of custom designs, each a perfect fit. If you have your own graphic designer, have them give me a shout. I'm sure we can work together. The goal: a great website.
(X)HTML + CSS
You really need good code. Unfortunately, most web guys can't code their way out of a wet paper bag. I hand-code every website to make sure it's awesome.
Your website will be created with standards-compliant (X)HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). If you need javascript or a database, no worries. When it's done, it will be done right.
Website Hosting
Don't have a host? I'll take care of everything. You'll get lots of space and bandwidth, plenty of email addresses, reliable and inexpensive service.
Search Engine Optimization
SEO seems complicated, but it's really not that difficult. If you need more traffic (who doesn't?), I can help. I won't dazzle you with theory, either...I'll show you examples of successful SEO and bring you the traffic you need.
Social Media
Spread the word the easy way: get on Facebook and Twitter. I can help.
HTML Email
Keep in touch with your clients via email. Your custom template can look just like your website without breaking the bank.
Blogs
Publish. Search engines will love you for it. Clients will find you. Competitors will be jealous.
Content Creation
On the web, content is KING. If you're not good with the words, let me help. Together we can get you a LOT more traffic in no time!
If you prefer to write your own content, I'll take good care of you. I'm a great proofreader and editor, so your work will go online in good shape.
Domain Management
Looking for a domain name? Your web address is very important. I'll help you choose one, or simply make sure it never expires.
...etc. Whatever you need.
Maybe you think I'm kidding. I'm not. Most web professionals do only one thing. I'm fortunate to be in a position to help you with everything listed above, and more. Have questions? Ask. Wonder if I know my stuff? Feel free to grill me. You might be surprised.
